my mom’s white/black mixed and while i don’t deny it, i don’t go out of my way to actively claim my partial black heritage due to the combo of her being fairly white-passing/me only being ¼ black/me mostly taking after my dad means that sometimes other mixed people may notice this but i’m read primarily as a tanned/curly haired japanese woman, and this is what mainly affects my experiences. in situations of discussing race i call myself mixed jpn and let people come to their own conclusions. the only context i use the word black in reference to myself is just to accurately describe my hair/experiences with hair products/etc. i list this page only to provide clarity if i mention it on here.
